About the Arcade

The Child’s Play Charity Arcade is an annual charity drive tradition at UB. Initially conceptualized by Perry McAlister and the Digital Designer’s Guild as a way for the local community to make an impact by partaking in the culture and industry they effuse, the arcade has grown into a campus-wide event in the short time that it has been celebrated.

After reaching out to the Black Student Union and the Respect Life Club, our first attempt at the event in 2011 yielded a strong starting point: $800 in direct contributions to the Child’s Play Charity foundation, a group that donates books, games, and toys to children with chronic and terminal illnesses. It was a great start and an inspiration to dream even bigger the next year! In 2012, we partnered with 12 student organizations and campus utilities from around the University of Baltimore and raised just shy of $1200 for a great cause.

By partnering up with organizations from not only around campus, but all over the Baltimore metropolitan area, we’re aiming to reach an even greater impact this year: $2000 in direct contributions to the Child’s Play Charity foundation. With their help and the help of the UB campus, we know we’re going to make it there!
